Introduction to Coaching and Kettlebell Basics

Serving people of all different personalities, values, backgrounds and bodies. Where do we start? Uplifting coaching with size-inclusive considerations and trauma-informed care principles. Crawl, walk, run is the process and we all start with our breath.

The focus here is to learn how to create and teach full body tension, from the ground up. We get comfortable holding the kettlebell and start your personal coaches manual.



Become Kettlebell Athletes

Explore mobility and flexibility for kettlebell enthusiasts. Design warm-ups and movement prep ideal for the journey of a kettlebell athlete. Understand and learn to coach the multitude of athletic drills, transitions, kettlebell flows and complexes needed to lead the industry as an Inclusive Kettlebell Coach. Celebrate the diversity of kettlebell training styles through practice. Develop your Coaches’ Eye while honing your programming skills to meet all your students’ goals.


Intersectional Kettlebell Coaching

As personal trainers and coaches, we are guaranteed to work with trauma survivors, whether we are aware of it or not. This curriculum will fill in the gaps of kettlebell coaching by amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. Learn how to coach and design your coaching practice from a size-inclusive and trauma-informed lens that is intersectional and anti-oppression.

This is a 6-month program with 2 phases, developed to continue growing your kettlebell skills to include confidently teaching advanced skills like; The Get Up, Snatch, Jerk and all the basics with double bells.

BUILD ON THE BASICS

Phase 1 (months 1 - 3): 12 modules and 40+ deep-dive lessons on how to uplift your kettlebell toolkit for you and your clients with beginneer to advanced kettlebell skills.

  • Implement your own coaching manual. Get direct and timely personalized homework reviews and feedback.

  • Train together and learn to teach through consistent individual practice of your skills. Take the hassle out of programming for yourself.

    Engage with like-minded fitness professionals who are navigating kettlebell training from social justice perspectives including anti-racism, anti-diet culture, size-inclusive and trauma-informed lenses.

  • Get curious. Explore the diversity of Kettlebell training with modules and guest instructors: Kettlebell Sport, Kettlebell Juggling, Mobility and Flexibility for Kettlebell Athletes

TRUST THE PROCESS

Phase 2 (months 4 - 6): Who are you and who do you serve? [Re]evaluate your business and what it means to make intersectional values a priority in your coaching practice.

  • One-on-one coaching twice per month. Work on the specific strategies that you need to support your growth as a kettlebell coach and the needs of your community. Get deeper into your skills, advice on programming, culture check.

  • Do the math, pricing with your energy business model.

    Learning to program, define anti-diet coaching, make social media simple, content managment strategies.

  • Whether your a new personal trainer or an established entrepreneur or studio owner you will learn to navigate the tools and systems required to book out your practice.

I created this course to break down the barriers to kettlebell training, making it accessible to all bodies regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, body size, ability or sexual orientation.

COACH DAMALI FRAISER

A results-oriented author, speaker and coach committed to her mission to foster a community of Kettlebell Coaches who will lead the industry in making kettlebell training become more accessible. With me as your Coach, you won’t just include diverse bodies you will become a coach who considers it fundamental to design and program all aspects of training with kettlebells for every BODY.

Damali is an industry leader in making Kettlebell training accessible for all bodies.

This certification is ideal for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities and anyone who has been marginalized due to systemic oppression.

Damali brings to the wellness space a unique blend of technical experience with her expertise in physical fitness and exercise. All from an intersectional lens. She has 20 years of process engineering, software development lifecycle, project and organizational change management to complement 10 years in health and wellness as a Kettlebell and Nutrition Coach. 

Damali explores the strength of the community seen through kettlebell exercises. She believes the body is a community, each system depends on every other system. When we don't see ourselves represented in our communities it becomes a source of disconnection within our bodies.

FAQs

  • Not just for the Kettlebell enthusiast. Coaches Corner models the learning journey into an easy-to-digest sequence you can immediately apply to your teaching. You do not need any previous experience teaching kettlebells, everything will be taught to you in the program;

    For a safe way to progressively lock into your kettlebell skills

  • Class will be Mondays at 1:30pm EST.

    There will be group workouts every other Friday. The way the program runs there’s classes weekly for the first half which are very skills oriented and in the second half we continue with the skills and then we start talking about ethical business practice with some modules and guest coaches.

    One on one sessions start in Month 4, every other week they’ll be class, on the alternate week there will be 30min one on one coaching calls, which will scheduled according to our are availabilities.

  • You will have access to the course materials for 12 months.

    During the duration of the 6-month intensive your effort is approximately:

    • 1.5 hours per week for the live group calls, Mondays at 1:30pm EST.

    • Prep time for each session approx. 30 mins each week.

    • Kettlebell practice time approx. 15 mins a day,

    • Homework weekly 45 mins each week.

    • 45-min group workout every other week.

  • We take a weight-neutral approach to training.

    All our programming will aim to support your clients personal goals. However, we are clear that there is no presumption that weight loss is a goal or priority. Everybody has different size limbs, some bellies protrude, some hang or jiggle.

    Kettlebell training at Lift Off is inclusive of all sizes, smallest to largest. We also consider impacts of weight sigma, weight bias and take a health at every size approach to fitness.

  • We believe that kettlebell training can be a form of weight lifting adopted as an adjunct intervention for trauma. We address the impact of trauma within individuals and within their communities when participating in a movement practice with kettlebells. We also ascribe to the essential principles of Trauma Informed Weight Lifting (TIWL)

    Trauma Informed Weight Lifting is committed to principles of practice that incorporate anti-oppression and anti-racist frameworks (Do Less Harm) and values as well as trauma-informed frameworks and values (Then Do Good).

  • All live sessions will be recorded and made available in the student portal.

  • The student portal open on January 15, 2024.

    Pre-reads, downloadable reading list and prep homework will be available at that time. The first live group coaching call is on January 22, 2024.
